Hi,
Will you please clarify me on why my saved home screen web app on my iphone5S doesn’t show an option of “allow google maps to access” my current location?Whereas my desktop home screen web app is picking up a location & same when I open a web app via a link it does show a current location.
Hello,
Web-app uses Progressive Web Application technology. It uses resources of the default web browser. To get location you should have 2 types of permissions: 1. Permission for the page 2. Permission for your browser.
Maybe you declined your first permission screen.
Hi,
For a link to website when I open it on my iphone5s. Google maps will ask access for my location:don’t allow or Ok?I’ll click ok.I use safari browser on my iPhone. But when I open a home screen short cut or bookmark (Web app) on my iPhone.Google maps don’t ask for same question like it does for a link to website. However, on my laptop, I use Google Chrome browser and I created a short cut on the desktop. When I open the desktop short-cut, Google maps is quick to ask access to my current location- don’t allow or ok?I’d click ok and the location will be retrieved from Google maps.
So could this problem be attributed to my iPhone?Because I can’t say it’s safari browser since Google maps is able to pick up my location when clicked a link on my iPhone. Can you please clarify on this one?
Thanks.
Dear Keletsom,
Kindly delete the shortcut on your iPhone and clear your browser cache. Then try to create a new shortcut and make sure to allow access to your location on the first access attempt.

Nadya
